Reducing our impact
Aiming at reducing carbon dioxide emissions linked to energy consumption due to its PVC compounding activities, Somapla decided to invest in green-source energy.
Considering the privileged location of Somapla in southern Europe, photovoltaic solar panels were the chosen technology.
The installed solar plant has a 445-kW nominal capacity and is able to produce more than 10% of the annual electric energy consumption. Since the solar plant start-up more than 3 years ago, carbon emissions were reduced by more than 358 tonnes, being the equivalent yearly absorption of more than 16 thousand trees.
Excess electric energy production is injected into the local distribution network.
